Korupsi dan Money Laundering Perspektif Al-Qur’an (Kajian Tafsir Al-Misbah karya Quraish Shihab)
Main Article Content
Abstract
Islam strictly prohibits taking the property of others by unlawful means. This is evident in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 188, and Surah An-Nisa, verse 29. Attempts to acquire illicit wealth in this day and age go by many names, such as corruption, money laundering, bribery, breach of trust, and so on. In the contemporary era, interpreting the Qur’an using a thematic (maudhui) approach is a highly relevant endeavour. This study employs a thematic method based on literature, with the primary source being the exegetical work Al-Misbah and other relevant sources. The research findings indicate that thematic exegesis is a systematic approach to understanding the Qur’an through the grouping of verses according to theme. The steps involved include determining the theme, collecting relevant verses, analysing the context (asbabun nuzul), and formulating the Qur’an’s perspective on that theme. This study aims to examine and explore how the Qur’an prescribes punishment for perpetrators of corruption and money laundering, utilising the perspective of M. Quraish Shihab as presented in his exegesis, Al-Misbah. This exegesis offers insights into how Islam views the issues of corruption and money laundering as violations of religious and moral principles, as well as the importance of upholding trust, justice and integrity in every aspect of life.
